Education

School children form a special target group. During the last decennia of the previous century less attention was paid to the Second World War in education. Recently there has been a dramatic change on that score. There is now much more emphasis paid to it. Previously it was assumed that the children were told a lot about it at home, nowadays the point of view is that the schools must als play an active róle.

During the setting-up of the exhibits in the Liberation Museum it was taken into account that children would be coming, either in schoolgroups or as individuals, or as members of a family.

Thus the collection is arranged thematically in chronological order, as realistically as possible. Use is made of multimedia techniques. This, together with dioramma's filled with clothed dummies and arhfical gunnery installations, sketches a picture of an episode out of the war period and increases The viewer's involment. By adding 'normal' everyday objects from the period a picture of a community at war is completed.
